Prishtina International Airport Prishtina International Airport Adem Jashari (Albanian: Aeroporti Ndërkombëtar i Prishtinës), is an international airport in Prishtina, Kosovo. The airport is located 15 km (9.3 mi) south-west of the city of Pristina, Kosovo. Prishtina International Airport connects with dozens of European cities, including London, Gothenburg, Vienna, Istanbul, Oslo and many, many more. These are served by a collection of budget airlines and national carriers, such as Wizzair, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, Easy Jet and others. The airport has flights to and from numerous European destinations.

SPEAKERS

Maud Lindeboom

Prof. Maud Lindeboom is associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery with an interest in Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS) and Congenital malformations, specifically in the field of Esophageal Atresia (EA). Together with Prof. David van der Zee and Dr. Stefaan Tytgat, she initiated the ERN WKZ Center for Congenital Malformations – Esophageal Atresia, which is one of the largest centers for EA in Europe. Her research focuses on 1) novel treatments and diagnostics in EA and tracheomalacia 2) brain injury and neurodevelopment in EA 3) Innovative learning skills regarding MIS and EA (TEACHER Erasmus+ 2020 Strategic Partnerships) 4) Epithelial cell culturing in EA in collaboration (Hubrecht Institute). For four years, she has been member of the Education and Training committee of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery. Currently, she serves as honorary secretary for the European Society for Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery (ESPES).

Zafer DOKUMCU, MD, FEBPS

Izmir, Turkey

He was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1974. He completed his medical degree and fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Izmir. He worked as a observer fellow at St James University-Leeds Teaching Hospital in Leeds, UK with scholarship from ESPU. He returned to Ege University in 2011 where he now works and teaches as an Associate Professor in Department of Pediatric Surgery. He is an active fellow of European Board of Paediatric Surgery (EBPS) since 2016.

His main interests are; pediatric thoracic (lung – chest wall – diaphragm) surgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, foregut (windpipe and food pipe) surgery, oncological surgery, newborn surgery and airway surgery.

He is an active member of national (Turkish Association of Pediatric Surgery) and international (European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association, European Society of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons and International Pediatric Endo-Surgery Group) societies. He is the author of numerous international articles and presentations and an active member of IPEG-Middle East Chapter Board. He is Vice Physician-in-Chief at Ege University Hospital and also an active member of residency training, research training programme and continuous professional development commissions in Ege University Faculty of Medicine.

He is married and father of two sons.

Amulya Saxena, MD PhD DSc(hon) FRCS(Glasg)

Amulya Saxena is the President of the European Paediatric Surgeons Association (EUPSA) and Consultant Neonatal and Pediatric Surgeon at the Chelsea Children’s Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Fdn Trust, Imperial College London, United Kingdom. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery.

He completed his Pediatric and Neonatal Surgical training in Germany and gained work experience at major tertiary European and American Medical Centers. He was a Research Fellow in Surgery at the Boston Children´s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA and gained further experience in Pediatric Surgery at the Children’s Mercy Hospital, University of Missouri, Kansas City, USA, the Hospital 12 de Octubre, Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain, Fetal Centre, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, USA and the Juntendo University Medical School, Tokyo, Japan.

Amulya Saxena has won prestigious European and International awards for his contribution to pediatric surgery. He has presented over 450 papers at International Surgical Conference, authored over 200 articles, written over 75 book chapters and has organized over 60 congresses, seminars and workshops. Amulya Saxena is in the Editorial Board of 8 Peer-Reviewed Journals and an ad-hoc Reviewer for over 30 Peer-reviewed Journals. He has edited two books “Essentials of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery” and “Chest Wall Deformities”.

He is also an active member in a number of societies, including: European Pediatric Surgeons Association (EUPSA), European Society for Pediatric Endoscopic Surgery (ESPES), British Association of Pediatric Surgeons (BAPS), British Association of Pediatric Endoscopic Surgeons (BAPES), Austrian Society of Pediatric Surgery (ÖGKCH) and International Society for Pediatric Wound Care (ISPeW).
